The Zone Diet

I highly recommend the Zone Diet! Created by Dr. Barry Sears, the Zone Diet can help you lose weight, burn fat, control hunger, boost energy and improve health! The Zone Diet is easy to follow, and it will absolutely change your life. The key is managing insulin levels through a diet designed to keep them within a certain zone. As a result, you’ll lose weight, enjoy more energy, and improve your health.

I've seen it do amazing things! My friend Ruth was in horrible health. She was diabetic, extremely overweight and had to take daily insulin shots! She got so bad that she had several surgeries including amputation of her big toe! She went on the Zone Diet and her blood sugar was so good that she didn't need insulin shots! She also lost about 100 pounds!

The Zone Diet also creates good eicosanoids. These are invaluable hormones needed in the body. Some diets create bad eicosanoids. Let me explain more below.

I used to eat oatmeal and bananas for breakfast every morning, good food but bad diet! Oatmeal converts to starch which then turns to sugar and bananas have a lot of sugar in them anyway. This causes a surge in blood sugar and swift high energy boost! Then the body hyper-insulins which produces a sudden drop in blood sugar! Then your energy level drops and you get weak and maybe want to take a nap. Plus! The excess sugar is dumped on your body in the form of triglycerides! This is a bad fat and makes you gain weight! 

However, if you combine a pure protein with your oatmeal without the bananas, it produces amazing results! Your first bite should be pure protein, for instance, whites of eggs, non-fat cottage cheese, even breast of chicken, etc.

The protein produces glucagon, a hormone from the pancreas that stimulates your liver which acts as a thermostat for sugars and insulin! This causes your blood sugar to even out and keeps your energy level consistent!

This is truly an amazing diet! Try it yourself and see! But remember you must balance carbs and fruits with a little protein through the meal. The formula from his book is 1/3 more carbs then protein. But if you always add the protein and guess at the size it will still work wonders! However,  if you drink sodas, beers, etc throughout the day you will blow this diet away! Better to drink straight water or have a little protein with your beer! This will make you cheer!
