THE GREATEST QUESTION IN LIFE IS WHEN WILL I DIE AND HOW WILL I FACE IT

FIRST CORINTHIANS 15 VERSE 55

“O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?  O HADES WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY?

The mystery of death and how we face it is not a subject that many like to talk about.  Of all the experiences that man faces the most difficult is the prospect of death and that all will keep that appointment, and none will evade it.  What takes place in the minds of men and women at the moment of death we do not know and can only speculate.  Many books have been written about agnostics and those who reject that there is a God, and that there will be a judgment to follow.  Face this experience.  The world religions have written much about death and much about appeasing the angry gods with various offerings.  Some teach that there is a place called limbo where departed souls go at death to purge or cleanse their souls and that after a time period souls go into the presence of the Lord, but all of this is conjecture. It is not supported by scripture.  Apart from the word of God there is no answer to the mystery of death. Thank God the Bible has an answer to this experience so that we can face it with great peace and without fear.  The Bible tells us in no uncertain terms that man was   created to live forever and that once sin entered the world that relationship was broken with the Holy God.  To reject the word of the living God is to close the door to the answers about the great mystery of death, and leaves us groping in the dark.  The Bible speaks of death as the separation of the soul from the body, or the material part of man from his spirit.  The soul of man is created in the image of God and will never cease to exist, as some would like to believe.  Second Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 1, “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”  Here Paul the Apostle, under the leading of the Holy Spirit, tells us that the human body is likened to a house that falls apart and the real person continues to exist.  There is no such thing as the spirit or soul of man ceasing to exist as some would like to believe, but continues on to live forever.  Death is not only a separation of the body from the soul, but the scriptures teach that a Holy God will not allow any sin or the appearance of sin into his Holy presence.  Unless you are without sin or perfect, you will never make it. The thinking of or the philosophy of the world is to earn ones right to live with a Holy God, but this will not do.  The Lord demands perfection and no mortal can earn enough brownie points.  Only the Bible gives us the answer to how sinful men can spend eternity with the Holy God.  The answer is imputed righteousness which the Lord gives freely and no one can buy it.  We are saved by putting aside our pride and humbling ourselves before the Holy God, and realizing that we have nothing to offer him but our sins.  Life beyond the grave is only to those who repent of their sins and receive the free gift that God has provided in the death of his only begotten son the Lord Jesus Christ.

I leave you with these words….” Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10 and verse 9.
