TWO PATHS WE FACE THIS NEW YEAR…..WALK WITH THE LORD OR SEEK TO WALK WITHOUT HIM. THE CHOICE IS OURS TO MAKE.
What decisions will we make this coming year that will forever change our lives for the good or for the worse. Life is full of decisions that we have to make and its sad to say that many in this world are following the philosophy of the world who says do your own thing and forget that we are going to be held accountable for our decisions in life by the one that made us and his name is almighty God or Jesus the Christ. The Bible that many people are obeying is the media and the music that we listen to. Many of the books and newspapers that we read are anti God and in reality are teaching rebellions against the living God. The school systems of this nation are seeking to brainwash many of those who attend these schools that God is dead or does not exist. Is it any wonder that many in this nation have no interest in anything that is spiritual in nature or the word of God, but are living for this life alone, and never give thought that there is a life to come and if we want no part of Him in this life why should we want to spend eternity with Him in heaven. What does the Bible have to say about the future and how we should live our lives? The word of God tells us that a sovereign God is in control of the future and has predetermined what will take place regardless of what men plan. In the book of Isaiah chapter 44 verse 24: “I am the Lord that makes all things, Who stretches the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;” Here the living God tells the world that he alone is in charge of all things and that He will do as He pleases or what comes to mind. We as human beings were made to depend upon our creator and not to go our own sinful way. The great message of the Bible is that God wants to have a relationship with each human being. This relationship comes only through the new birth or as theologians call regeneration. Long before Jesus came upon scene the great prophet Ezekiel speaks of the Lord giving a new heart to the nation of Israel and all who will repent of their sins and call upon the Lord. Ezekiel 36 verse 26: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh.” Self reformation will not do it or self effort will get us nowhere. This nation is in dear trouble as many nations have found out the hard way that to leave the Lord out of our lives is to bring disaster to a nation or an individual. The history of the Bible is the story of the nations and people that have gone their own way and have ended up in hell. The Bible tells us over and over again that God loves every individual and wants the best for each person, but we have to come of our own free will and admit that we are helpless apart from the Lord saving us. The words of Jesus the Messiah are just as true today as they were nearly 2000 years ago: “He that come to me and I will no way cast out.” I leave you with these words from Romans chapter 10 verse 11: “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
