WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS OR A FAITH RIGHTEOUSNESS, WHICH IS RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT GOD WILL ACCEPT?

TEXT: ROMANS CHAPTER 10 VERSE 3

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.”

For the last two thousand years Israel has tried to practice a works type of righteousness which is based on performance rather then by faith. What is the reason for this type of thinking and why did Israel choose to follow this type of rational. It is only when you study the word of God that you begin to understand this logic. Before the destruction of the second temple or the temple of Herod you did not have the tabernacle teachings that mitzvahs or good works play a big part in being accepted by the Lord, and if you were of the seed of Abraham you would be a part in the next life which has been referred to as Gen Haden, Heaven or the Garden of Eden. When the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt the Lord through Moses command Israel to build a Tabernacle where the Lord would meet with Israel through a priest and the tribe of living was chosen to represent the nation before the Living God. From the family of Aarron we have a high priest called to go into the Holy of Holy once a year with the prescribed sacrifice which were two goats. One goat was slain and the blood was sprinkled upon the mercy seat and the other which was called the scape goat was released in the wilderness and was never seen again. All this were types or shadows of the coming of the Messiah into this world to offer himself as the final sacrifice for the nation of Israel and the world. As a personal testimony of being a Jew and accepting the Messiah of Israel as my Messiah and Lord: 48 years ago the verse that spoke to my own heart was when I read these words from the Torah. Leviticus 17:11; “For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the alter to make an atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that make and atone for the soul.” It is a known fact that whenever the Torah is read the fifty third chapter of Isaiah is never read and is skipped over. Also, Psalm twenty two verses fifteen also vary rarely read. What is the reason for this and the answer is it is speaking of a person who suffers and dies for the nation of Israel and the world. Judaism teaches our Jewish people who went through the holocaust have provided a sacrifice for sins of Israel, but the Bible tells us otherwise. Only a Holy God could pay for our sins and not a nation or sinful people. So much of what is taught in Judaism is the teachings of Rabbis and is not based upon the Holy Scriptures themselves. This paper is not an attack upon my Jewish people, but a wakeup call to read our own Jewish scripture and to see what the Living God is trying to tell us. Not only is Judaism but many of the other religions look to other then the Bible for the answer to the sin question and many other problems that we face as human beings. The Bible tells us that only by faith can we please the Living God and that without faith it is impossible to please Him. In Hebrew 11:6 we have these words; “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” The word of God is telling us that we must believe that there is a God who does exist and when we place our faith in Him and His Holy Word He will greatly reward us and give us eternal life and our sins will be remembered no more. I leave you with these words for the book of Roman 10:3: “Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
